.Net Framework Question

Have .NET Framework 2 installed. When go to Custom Microsoft Updates,
shows .NET Framework 1.1 as optional download. Unsure if need this
version also or should have installed this first. Any advice appreciated.

..NET Framework is similar to visual basic. Programs written for VB or .NET
require runtimes on your computer. VB has many runtimes as does .NET,
including .NET 1.0 plus updates, .NET 1.1 plus updates, amd .NET 2.0 plus

There were some functions in 1.1 that were not carried forward to 2.x. If
you have software that specifically requires 1.1, you can install it
alongside of 2.x
