.NET Framework 1.1

I can not install microsoft.NET Framework 1.1 from the
updates. As well, I can not install a new software
program as I get the message: .NETFramework setup
failed. Help I do not know too much about computers and
have tried all I know for the last 2 hours. Thanks!
 
apparently you are not on a domain (business server) It is
not necessary to install this app.
If you still want to then I would post this question under
servers newsgroup
 
Some programs require it even though not a server environment,
Symantec's Drive Image for one.
 
What would it use it for?

What I understand is that more programs will be going to using this.
Drive Image 7 is the only program on my system so far that requires it
to be installed.
