negative figures

apply the following custom format (goto 'format - Cells'):
0.00;(-0.00)

Format | Cells... | Number tab | Custom | Type: #,##0;(#,##0)

Right click on the cell, choose Format Cells... Click on Number under
Category:
Then choose how you want negative numbers displayed.
 
Hi Mariah!

If this will always be your preferred format you can change the format
for negative numbers using:

Start > Settings > Control Panel > Regional Options
Make changes on the Numbers and Currency Tabs
Apply
OK
