Hello,

I have a workbook containing a chart with dynamic ranges and I woul
like to use the workbook as a template for my charting needs. Thi
means that to use the workbook as a "standard template" (though not
literal Excel 'Template'), I would like to save the workbook withou
any data in the source ranges for the chart.

However, each time I remove data from the source ranges, I get th
familiar error:

"Your formula contains an invalid external reference to a worksheet.

Verify that the path, workbook, and range name or reference ar
correct, then try again."

This goes away every time I load the ranges with the new data (for th
particular series I am trying to chart). Does anyone have an
suggestions as to how to work around this error or to keep it fro
constantly popping up?

Thanks,

-Pete

Hi,

I don't think there's any way around what's happening -
the error message is there for a reason (during normal
operations); why not just put some very simple dummy
information that you always easily replace.

Hi Jeff,

Thanks for your suggestion. I was hoping I could avoid that, but i
looks like that might be the only option.
