need to make a query for a chart

OK, what I want is a chart that shows the % rework for however many batches over time (per month). I can make a query that sums each % rework by product for the time period, but when I try to use it to make a chart, the closest I can do is a sum or avg for the calculation, and this bases it off of the number of entries, versus the sum of the batches (ex: it takes the average percentages reworked based on 20 entries versus 1000 batches) so the numbers are always off. All I'm wanting to see is that TOTAL for the month of January, there were 1000 batches produced with 100 reworked, equalling 10% reworked for January. Instead, the closest I can do is either the sum or avg % reworked per formula for each day of January, which is not the same percentage. Any idea at all would be helpful!
