I have created a form template for Training purposes and a majority of this
form is in table layout with checkboxes etc. I have also embedded an excel
spreadsheet for staff to enter costs and for it to automatically calculate
total. However in order for the checkboxes to work I have to lock the
document but by doing so, does not allow me to double click in the excel data
section to add the amounts. Can anyone please tell me how to get around
this? Is there such a thing as partial locking on form?

Yes there is partial locking. Insert section breaks, so the Excel is in a
section of its own; then set the protection only for the other sections.

Thanks Jezebel. What section break should I be using? continuous? Also when
I go to protect the document it doesn't give me any option to select areas to
protect.

Use any kind of section break you like. How you select the sections to
protect has changed with the different versions of Word. In W2003, after you
select 'Filling in forms' from the Editing Restrictions list, you'll see
'Select sections...'

Brillant! It worked - thank you Jezebel :o)
