Need some advice on scanner packages please...

Hi,

I need to be able to scan A4 documents into a single folder, and be able to
search them for specific text keywords at a later date. Ideally I'd like the
OCR search facility to be as seamless as possible i.e. not having to
manually OCR each file into a searchable format. Have looked at loads of
options and tried a few demos (SimpleIndex & File Desktop) but nothing seems
to leap out as a solution.

Can anyone recommend a good scanner / software combination that would do
what I need?

Cheers =)

I'm thrilled with my Xerox DocuMate 152 that came bundled with PaperPort 11
and OmniPage.

Hi Jan,

Thanks for that, looks like the Documate 152 will fit my requirements
exactly!

Can you configure the scanner so that when you press a button it will scan
as text searchable PDF and save the file straight to a pre-defined folder?
Or is there an element of manual intervention when scanning in this way?

Yes (searchable PDF .... provided you've loaded the OmniPage software it
comes with), and yes (straight to predefined folders, as long as you scan
through PaperPort and not through the "One Touch Scan" software itself. I
evan scan directly to Quicken when attaching copies of bills/receipts to my
register.)
