Need SATA PCI controller card

Can anyone recommend a good, basic, reasonably nonbuggy SATA PCI controller
card? I picked up an 80GB Western Digital hard disk at a computer show, but
when I got home, I realized that it was an SATA model (which my mobo does
not support). Rather than go throught the hassle of getting an RMA,
shipping, etc., I just want to pop a PCI SATA controller in and keep the
drive. Besides, doing so will free up an EIDE channel for other drives. TIA.

Others probably have specific recommendations. Besides asking for
advice, I would just for one. Look for a brand you like and a store
you like, and then compare prices. Are you ready to upgrade your
mainboard? My inexpensive mainboard has SATA controllers in addition
to the IDE channels.

They come as cheap as this

or as high as this

if you want a decent solid controller card the get a promise

or if you are adventurous, go with the others out there. not all of the low
priced stuff is crap, but usually you get what you pay for. and as always -
your mileage may vary!
