What happens when you install the Vista-specific drivers for the
computer's video adapter, as provided by the video adapter's
manufacturer, and then set the monitor to it's native resolution?

Hello Savvy, dont worry at all...

I will help you ok? Its easy to fix

First of all you must know that your monitor has a naitive resolution of
1280x1024 pixels

LCD monitors show the sharp and crisp image ONLY when working at the exact
resoltion they were made for...

now, after you change your settings to that resolution then on the monitor
itself it has some buttons...

if the image is on the side.. misaligned.. you can press the buttons on the
monitor...

most often these monitors have an "autoadjust" button that tries to bring
the image in the center

If not it has controls to move the image in the center... manually...

I am looking now for the manual so I can see the control options on your
monitor and i will post back

http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&sku=320-5197

You might have to press the auto-adjust button on your screen to adjust the
image to the screen. If you haven't got auto-adjust you might have to adjust
the various options like vertical and horizontal adjustments individually
using the other buttons or the menu.

Any changes to the screen resolution might affect the positioning of the
image on the screen. Auto-adjust button is there for this purpose.

But on no account set the resolution to a higher definition than recommended
for the particular screen. I've heard that this could actually cause damage
the screen. Thus if it is a 1024x768 screen don't try setting it to
1280x1050.

Ok I found the manual online...

as I said you have to do 2 steps:

1) Set the resolution to 1280x1024 since this is the native resoltion of the
monitor
2) see this screenshot from the manual and press that auto adjust button so
the image will be centered if it is not

If you dont like the text that may seem small to you now, tell me...

there are some things you can do to make them bigger WITHOUT changing your
native resolution that MUST remain at 1280x1024
for the image to be crisp and clear...

tell me if this helped you

Thank you all for your help. As far as this goes...it wont let me change the
resolution that high. the highest it will go to is........ 1176*664

if you dont have a higher resolution then you have to install the correct
display adaptor driver
for your card.

Your monitor DOES have an autoadjust button! I just read the manual for it
and sent you a screenshot..

see my other post

Hi T,

You can be a real stirrer at times, but like this you are a gem at really
helping people out. Don't forget that 60Mhz is too low also as most LCD's run
better at either 72 or 75Mhz. Also sounds like through his typing that he is
getting himeself stressed out. I too have just downloaded his manual and it
all seems rather simple to setup. Savvy, pay attention to what Tiberius says
and you will be alright.

where do i gt this from? im sorry..this is all just very new to me.. aslo..i
looked at your screenshot and yes..it looks like that but..that little thing
that you have circled for auto adjust between the power button and plus
sign...is not a button..it is just an indentation like the sun one for the
light and dark...if i am misunderstanding..pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeee...tell me. i
dont mind admiting that i am stupid about this...thank u again!!!

Bob thank you for your kind words...

as for the refresh rate you must know that this does not apply to LCD's and
only to CRT screens

http://www.css.ap.sony.com/consumer/template/KBDetails.aspx?Id=4192&Category=Computer+Monitors

LCD monitors deliver a good image at the low refresh rate of 60 Hz. Due to
the nature of the technology, It does not benefit from higher refresh rates
the way that CRT monitors do.

if you search on google you will find thousands of pages saying the same
thing

lol..im a girl...but..i am paying attention..i am just confused...hoping that
T will explain this one more time...to someone like me who has no idea what
she is doing..this is really helping!..thank u all!!

okay...i get it...the plus buttonIS the autoadjust button..i had done theat
just now and it did not help. it made the screen shake a second and went back
where it was...i know this oughta be simple..im just not havin any
luck...please dont get too frustrated withme..

That's what was just going on in my mind. If my understanding is right and
he has changed to Vista, then does he have the right Vista driver for his
graphics card? But then surely even with a generic driver he would be OK at
those resolutions.

Maybe he should look again at his Monitor User Manual since he doesn't even
seem to be aware that he has got an Auto-Adjust button on his screen.

Go ahead and run it with cleartype as that will make it seem much
easier on the eyes.

how exactly do i do that????? will that help with the images being all
fuzzy..blurry..pixelated???????? also..that is the resoluton and refresh im
on...it didnt change....thank u

Savvy... listen..

I understand the problem now.. you dont have your display adaptor with the
correct driver....
OR you have windows thinking this is another monitor...

did you by any chance change the monitor recently?

So check both of what i will show you, and then post back this information
ok?

Follow steps:
Right click on empty space of desktop and select PERSONALIZE
then from the window that appears select the DISPLAY SETTINGS option
