Trying to set up a small home network. I have the router, & am trying to
make an old desktop pc work as the server. However the drivers I have will
only work on Win98, not on W2K, & it doesn't support connection sharing.

Can someone recommend a freeware proxy server which will run on Win98,
support multiple pop3, smtp, nntp, imap and also all instant messaging
networks (using Trillian)?

Have looked at AnalogX Proxy, but can't tell if it will support imap & it
doesn't seem to support all IM networks.

TIA

IM should work without a proxy.

For SMTP, POP3, SMTP, NNTP, IMAP, ...: why not use servers instead of
proxies? (But do you really need to store all of them in your LAN first?)

I went through the exact same rigmaroles as you are now... I finally settled on
FreeProxy... I also run Win98SE - It does it all and plays nice with other servers.
It's very easy to set up and configure and has a very clean and easy to use non intrusive
interface.
Everything is completely configurable and I've personally tested it thoroughly with all
the various IM networks... In fact I'm running it now...
