I have 2 domains, domain1 and domain2. I am migrating users from domain1 to
domain2. When I change XP to domain2 I create new user SID and end with a
new profile user.domain2 . Most users have been a breeze and no problems
with the transfer over, but I have some users that have legacy programs that
point to domain1 for their files. To change a user that has such legacy
programs -- they have too many settings to deal with including xl links that
have no way to be recreated. I have found many ways to keep the user in
domain1 on the internet so the changes will stick mostly to modify the
registry with the users new sid and give his new domain user rights to the
domain1.user files so they can access them as before. Anyone have any
thoughts on this or a better way to keep the original domain1 profile after
moving the user to domain2?

I like User Profile Wizard from ForensiT. I used it to migrate several
users to a new domain, without any profile issues at all.

Hope it helps.
