need help with voltage supply for cable modem

Hi,
A friend moved and mailed me her RCA cable modem, model dcm305r, becasue
they don't have cable service where she lives in N.C.

In the move, however, the power module was lost. The unit has printed on
it: 11Vdc and 600 mAmps. Looking thorugh my parts bin I found a 12Vdc and
500 mAmps one.

Do you think it's safe to use it to power the modem?

with experience you 'SHOULD" not have a problem PROVIDED the polarity
is the same.

Thanks Jad,

I checked the polirity, and the center pin is positive on the modem and the
power brick.
