Need help with summarizing data

I have a spreadsheet that I need to summarize with subtotals or place a
summary of subtotals on another tab. The spreadsheet consists of two date
fields (which are presorted and grouped), a description field, and several
columns of numbers. All I need to see on the final summary are the two date
fields and the totals of the columns of numbers.

Using the subtotal command (Data/Subtotal) I can get a subtotal of the
second date and all of the data, but it ignores the first date. How can I
get it to display the first date also?

Just a guess...

Are you selecting the range to subtotal or are you letting excel guess?

If you're letting excel guess, you may want to be more explicit and select the
range first.

I'm selecting a range. The totals I'm getting are perfect. My problem is
that I would like to display two date columns on the left hand side, but by
using subtotal, I'm only able to display one column.
