Hi!!!
I have windows Xp and at first the file compression feature in Outlook
express worked ok, i mean the one that ask you if you want to
resize(compress) for example a picture before you e-mail it...
Now, i dont get that question any more and i cannot find any info about it
so in order to resize a picture i need to use photoshop and thats really
annoing...
Anyone has a clue how to get it working again???
Thanks
Jannelu

only Hi Wesley!!!
Well it will work now after i followed your advice, but it will only work
when i am sending e-mail through the Common Tasks panel...
Is it any way to make it work by using outlook express???
I am sure that it worked through outlook express before and that i not
needed to go through the common tasks panel...
I am very grateful for some more assistance to help me to solve this matter,
it will work ok as it is now, but its kind of lengthy to do it this way...
Thanks
Jannelu

Jannelu,

If you want to resize pictures, you have to start with the picture files
before sending them. You can't do it by opening Outlook Express and Writing
a message from there first. I have no idea why you have to do it this way,
but you do.

From XP HELP:
To send a photo in e-mail:

1.. Open My Pictures, and then open the folder containing the photo you want
to send in e-mail.
2.. Click the photo you want to send.
3.. Under File and Folder Tasks, click E-mail this file.
4.. In the Send Pictures via E-mail dialog box, click Make all my
pictures smaller. Windows makes a smaller photo file and attaches it to an
e-mail message that displays a default subject and text message.
5.. In the To box, type the e-mail address of the person to receive the
picture, change the subject and message text if you want, and then click
Send.

Notes
a.. To open My Pictures, double-click the My Documents icon on your desktop,
and then double-click the My Pictures folder.
b.. Use this procedure for photos of file size greater than 64
kilobytes (KB). To check the file size of your photo, right-click the file,
click Properties, and look at Size.
c.. To send the photo without reducing the size of the file, click Keep the
original sizes.
d.. To change the settings for the size of the image, click Show more
options.
e.. If you have many pictures to share with others, you can publish them to
the Web instead of sending them in e-mail.
===

Or you can...
1.. Open My Pictures, and then open the folder containing the photo you want
to send in e-mail.
2.. Right click the photo you want to send.
3.. Point to Send To and select Mail Recipient
4.. Resize the picture or not
5.. Click OK
6.. Outlook Express Message opens with picture attached.
7.. In the To box, type the e-mail address of the person to receive the
picture, change the subject and message text if you want, and then click
Send.

Jannelu,

I forgot to mention. You could zip the picture or pictures and then add the
zipped file by opening Outlook Express first.

Ok Wes, thanks a lot...
Maybe i just mixed my memory up, i was sure that i have resized pics through
Outlook express before but you have convinced me that i surely have not...
Thanks again
jannelu

Click start, run, then type in REGSVR32 SHIMGVW.DLL click ok
(DllRegisterServer in SHIMGVW.DLL succeeded.)
