need help with links that open in a new window... not working!!!

I use IE and it has always worked great, until today. I was doing some
regular web browsing and without changing anything, suddenly pop ups and any
links that open into a new browser wouldn't work. Regardless of the
webpage, if I clicked the link it would open the new window but that window
would just remain blank. I tried the same links in netscape navigator and
it worked fine. I don't have a pop up blocker or anything like that. Does
anyone have any ideas what might be going on and how to fix this?
