Jared

I posted a little while ago when I got locked out of my HD
with all my business files on it. I have been trying to
use CACLS to change the permissions but I am having
problems.

"Ok I think I might be on the right track now. BTW, the
Restore folder is not on the C: drive, it is on the E:
drive (another HD) (E:\Restore). So I typed CD\ to get
back to the C prompt. Then I typed cacls E:\restore /T /G
jared:perm ... I tried different combos and stuff but it
usually says invalid arguments. Jared is the user and
E:\restore is the folder I am trying to access with all of
the files in it."

E:\Restore only contains restore info for drive E: that Windows Millenium stored. Xp uses c:\system volume infomation folder (for drive C and E:\System volume infomation for E:) - which you have to give yourself permission to access as admins are barred by default - but can add themselves to the permissions.

How were you locked out of your hard drive. If you reinstalled or deleted a user type Taking Ownership in help.
