hit these keys together;
Cntrl/Alt/Del

and view processes ruuning; Highlight those
you dont want and select "END TASK"

To remove at Start Choose
start/settings/start menu/customise and then REMOVE
those you don't want

Do you want to *close* them, or *stop* them? Task manager will stop
processes that are already running, but if you want to stop applications
from starting up automatically and hogging system resources, etc., go to
start | run, type msconfig <enter>, go to the startup tab, and untick what
you wish. Then reboot.

How do you know which processes are necessary and which can be safely stopped?
