Need help updating the "Display As" field

I need to update the "Display As" field for every contact in an
address book containing well over 2000 contacts.

I am looking for a way to update the "Display As" field with the email
address, File As, or Full Name field of that contact without having to
manually open, edit, save & close each contact individually.

I posted my problem in the microsoft.public.outlook.contacts group and
I was told the Display As field is a derived field. It could only be
changed
programmatically and to try posting in a programming group to see if
anyone
has developed a way to do it.

I'm using Outlook 2002 SP3 & Access 2002 SP3.

The thread from 6/4/04 is no longer available. You had listed the code along
with steps for running it. I'm using OL 2002 and am not having any success
changing the display as to last name, first name only. Any other tips would
be appreciated.

I still can't make this code work for me. I'm probably missing something
really basic. Here's what I've tried. I copied and pasted your code into a
new module while in Outlook 2002. I typed in Sub test2() at the beginning and
End Sub at the end of the code. I switched back to Outlook contacts and go to
Tools, Macros, and run the Test2 macro. Afterwards I open a contact item, bit
it still has the Full Name followed by the (email address). I'd like it to
show Full Name only. What am I missing? TIA.
