Hello group. I have two computers in the same room. I want one
computer to be the primary and the other secondary. The primary PC
will access the Internet, the secondary I do not want Internet access.
Both computers have Onboard NIC capabilities (I have a realtech PCI
nic card too). I have tried USB direct link but its slower than
molasses on a cold winter night to transfer files and unstable so I
want to try networking. Anyway I do not understand how to set up
networking so I can access both computers from one or the other. I
have tried but I think I'm missing something.
Could someone please do a step by step for me here (or post a link)?
Thank you!

Ok here is what the Primary(Asus P5P800) has:

Marvell Yukon 88E8001/8003/8010 Gigabit Ethernet Controller (onboard)
Connection Speed 100 Mbps

Secondary (ASUS A7N8X Deluxe) has:

3Com 3C920B-EMB Integrated Fast Ethernet Controller 100 Mbps
nVIDIA MCP2 - LAN Controller PCI (NVIDIA nForce MCP Networking
Adapter)
If I use a cross over cable how do I get the computers to talk to each
other?
Somethin so simple is not easy at first for me :(

The Networking Setup Wizard is pretty simple. One thing you have to make
sure of is that both computers are in the same workgroup. And make sure
file sharing is turned on. Those options are all there in the wizard. I
take it you must use a modem connection to the internet since your
crossover cable will be occupying both network adapters. By default it
won't share unless you tell it to. (It's all in the wizard).

Well, I was gonna pull out my realtech NIC PCI card
if The crossover cable will work. I just hope I dont run into any IRQ
conflicts and such

OK I got the PCI NIC card & Crossover cable. I dont understand how to
set up even though I've read it. Could some one do a step by step for
me till I get the hang of it?
TIA!

Update: I think I figured it out
I can now tap into both computers.
thanks!
