I'm having trouble keeping all chm files open for more than a minute on
my
brand new computer, it has a Core 2 Duo CPU with Win XP Pro SP2, no MS
Office and no printer drivers installed. Chm files were opening
properly on my old Acer P4 2.0 laptop with Win XP Pro SP 2, MS Office
and
printer drivers as well as on my work machine which is a P4 3.0 Dell
Desktop Win XP Pro SP 2, MS Office and printer drivers.

I'm guessing that the lack of MS Office or printer drivers is causing
my chm file to crash to the desktop with no error message. It usually
takes less than a minuter after moving around in the different chapters
of the document. I got the latest html help and my windows is up
to date. Any help on that?

Has nothing to do with any of your installed printers or MS office, PS try
OpenOffice as an alternative - it's cheep!

Msoft 's CHM viewer can be buggy, it's not your fault. Fixing it can be
difficult though.

I am presumming MSoft fell behind on devolopment - mainly becase your
computer was built POST windows XP and your new fandangled DUO core is
completly different to the type of hardware XP as developed for.

I recdomend downloading a different CHM viewer from a different source (or
alternately ask Msoft to fix thiers - good luck)

You can redo most of the shortcuts that Msoft Help uses to load it's CHM
viewer to piont to your new downloaded chm viewer.

Hope this helps
