Need help my word is acting weird

When I open my word to type a new document it opens with a document that I
wrote many weeks ago. If I press new it will give me a new page but not
blank it comes up with that same document. That doucment is saved on my
system but every time I press new blank document I get the same old document
showing up and what I have to do is manually high light and deleate the text
to get a blank document and then type what I want. Why is it all of a sudden
doing this? How can I get it to open with a blank page?

Thank you all for your advice it helped and it worked and now everything is
working great.
