Need Help ! Have Posted B4 But With No Responses!

I Have Been Having Major Problems With My Home Network!
My Main Comp Is Running Win Xp Home And Is conected to the internet through
a cable modem!
My Second comp is running win 98se and is networked to my win xp home comp
through a crossover cable!
i had problems with the ics previously and spoke to a technician who fixed
the problem (temporarily)!
after a couple of weeks of leaving my win xp home comp running i figured i
should shutdown for a bit to give it a break! after rebooting the win xp home
comp there seemed to be no more network!
i have tried everything from all the sites i had previously gone to to fix
the problem,with no luck!
i need some major help!
will do whatever is nescesary to fix this problem as my wife misses her
computer being conected to the internet as she does not go on my comp!
please let me know exactly what you need from me to fix this issue!

I WOuld But I AM WOrking On A very Very SMall Budget !
Not even enough to buy a 25spindle of cdr's!
that was why i was asking for help on fixing this issue without buying any
