Need help converting CMYK to RGB for use in Powerpoint

Ultimately I need to print out of Powerpoint. After reading these articles on
the web:

http://www.rdpslides.com/pptfaq/FAQ00761.htm
http://www.rdpslides.com/pptfaq/FAQ00666.htm

I have been unable to successfully convert back and forth between CMYK to
RGB without having the numbers wander. Everytime I convert the profiles back
and forth the CMYK values change. I'm using Illustrator CS2 on OSX 10.4.4 and
have turned off color management in Color Settings. Any guidance would be
great as to what steps to take in converting to RGB format for import into
Powerpoint.

Someone may be able to suggest an answer here but I'd ask this in
Public.Mac.Office.PowerPoint also. You'll find more Mac users there.

Might also want to try the U2U forums on Adobe, since it's more of an
Illustrator question.

Hi,

to give some more background info on what I am trying to do:

The project is a "pitchbook" that will be printed and also needs slide
projected onscreen at corporate meetings. It will probably be a lot easier
to make and change slides for "Onscreen" presentation from Powerpoint rather
than If I were to create the Pitchbook in Indesign and then have to recreate
onscreen slides in Powerpoint. The book is going to roughly be around 100
pages with some of the information also being projected onscreen. I want to
be able to convert vector illustrations and Photos that will look as good as
possible when I print from Powerpoint. So I guess I need to be able to find
the best way to achieve this. Any help would be great.

You may want to create the presentation in PPT then Save As to export bitmap images
in, say, TIFF or PNG (but not JPG) format. PowerPoint Mac lets you specify the
resolution you want when you do this.

I believe Photoshop will let you convert these RGB images to CMYK in batch mode; you
could then insert these into InDesign.

Steve, thanks for the replies. I was trying to play around with PPT and then
exporting the slide to Tiff and then converting it to CMYK mode in Photoshop
to bring into InDesign. After brining into Indesign the quality was good but
the text and vector art were not as crisp. I increased the DPI export option
in PPT to 300. Is this the limitation of PPT? Are there some other options
I should be doing when exporting from PPT?

You could try increasing the size of the slide in Page/Slide setup.
10" at 300 vs 20" at 300dpi ... more dots. <g>

Be sure to increase the height and width proportionally.
