My grandson is home using my computer via my wireless connection. My
computer has to be on all the time. I'm automatically logged in as the
administrator. I just realized that this is a dangerous procedure. I rather
be logged on as a user with limited rights, while my computer sits idle,
because my grandson is using the internet. It scares me to set up a account
with limited rights, and set myself up as administrator with a password. I
presently just turn my computer on and boom I'm on my computer. Would there
be a kind person giving this grandpa a hand as to how exactly I can change
this to a better more secure way......Many many thanks......Peter

I don't know why this would scare you, but if you are uncomfortable
working with your computer you should call a local professional to come
on-site and set you up properly.

Otherwise, just go to the User Accounts applet in Control Panel and make
a new Limited account for your grandson. While in there, assign a
password to your account that you will remember.

Thank you Malke.....I like to avoid the professional route to my home, not
because I can't afford it, but because I feel that I can get the help I need
here. I always have. People like yourself were always nice enough to get me
going. My grandson, is not on my computer, he has his own computer, my
computer is just on so he can use the wireless system I installed. I just
don't like my computer to be on, and just sitting here in a Admin log-on
state....many thanks for taking the time to help. I use Win XP home, and my
grandson uses the same OS. I have cable access, and use Linksys best router
with the same for my grandson, who plays games on line.....Opa Peter

If you have a wireless router, your computer does not need to be on in
order for your grandson to access the Internet. That is one of the
things the router does. Refer to the router manual (or visit the
Linksys site below) for more information.
