Need hal.dll

I reformated my computer and restarted - and i got the
error that I have an invalid BOOT.INI file - and that
windows cannot boot because it needs /systemroot/hal.dll.

I only have my Win XP cd, what directory from the cd do i
get it from?

I think i need to use the command copy D:\whereever it is
on cd c:
