Need database for 10 year reunion planning

I'm planning my 10-year class reunion and would like to try using a database.
I need a place to store names, e-mail, phone, and mailing address. Also to
check if they've been contacted and an RSVP yes/no. I also need it to print
mailing labels. There are about 400 graduates to find and mail invitations
to and typing or writing each individually each time I mail something would
get very tiresome - not to mention a waste of time. Is Access the best
Microsoft based program for this? (I have Office 2000 Premium.)

I think that Excel might be a better choice. Much easier to use.
It all depends on what you want to do with the data. If you just need
to keep tracks on names, addresses, RSVP and create labels Access seems
like overkill. If you just want to learn Access it would be a good place
to start.
