Need an ASP.NET 2.0 consultnat - 1 - 2 days work

Hi;

This is a short task that should take 1 – 2 days. The primary purpose is to
show us the correct way to use ASP.NET 2.0 and create the initial framework
for our portal.

This requires that the contractor does have a strong understanding of how to
use the new 2.0 features.

We know the .NET framework very well and are competent at simple ASP.NET
1.1. (We also know the Java/J2EE world very well.) But we have no knowledge
of ASP.NET 2.0. What we are trying to get here is a framework correctly
designed so as we move forward from the framework, we are correctly using
ASP.NET 2.0.

We do not have any interest in the following new features:
• Web Parts.
• Personalization.
• State Management.
• Rich controls (we think – we may be wrong on this one).
We do need the following features:
• Authentication & Authorization – Windows (Active Directory) and Forms
(using both Jet and SqlServer) methods.
• Master Page.
• Themes.
• Data access including encrypted and unencrypted connection
strings/passwords.
• Data bound controls. A simple CRUD set of pages.
• Internationalization via resources.

If you are interested, please email me. We will require three references
where the reference's email address is to a company email (ie no
hotmail/yahoo/gmail) and to three different companies.

How is one to email when your return email address is mangled and you
didn't provide an alternative?

That's still a fair amount of stuff to cover in a couple days,
especially if you want some samples and a bit more in depth (i.e.
explain the new stuff, not just a glance over it). Now add the "creating
some initial framework" task to it (mind you that's quite broad, I can
easily see this take over 2 days by itself)... Can't see it happen in a day.

You know, I was wondering about that myself. At least yours is only
munged, as opposed to being completely obfuscated, as his was.

Cheers.

Hi;

The biggest problem we are facing is while we can see how to use the 2.0
approach, we aren't sure what is the best way to do so. So I think (granted,
not sure) that the main thing we need is "here is the framework".

That said, I have vaporware html pages and a 2 page spec and so please do
email me, look at that, and bid accordingly.

Dude, you *might* want to double-check the resulting HTML of your own
site. It doesn’t validate very well, even though you went for theeasy
way out and chose the most relaxed version of HTML in the DocType.

http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http://www.windwardreports.com/

BTW, ASP.NET 2.0 can allow you to ensure the resulting HTML is XHTML
1.1, which will allow you the greatest flexibility to future-proof your
web site. You might wanna look into XHTML 1.1 compliance.

Cheers.

Unfortunately those two problem tags are defined by others - out of my control.
