Need advice for a RAID system

Greetings,

I have a system to which I want to add SATA RAID controller and an
enclosure to hold the drives. My ultimate desire would be perhaps a
RAID level 5 with 5 drives. Not certain that I'll start like that,
though.. I might start with a level 1+0.
Either way, what I'm looking for is an enclosure that can either be
internal or, preferrably, external, and attach to the RAID controller.
Hot plug/swappable backplane would be nice, but definitely not
critical. Especially because that's likely to add a substantial
increase in price.

Recommendation on brand based on reliability, support and overall
historical satisfaction is what I'm looking for. THe performace can be
average, I'm going to be running a backup system so I don't need
massive throughput.

Any advice would be very much appreciated, thanks.

This is a hot-swappable 5 in 3 internal enclosure. It was recommended by
George Ou at ZDNet. I have one. It appears to be reasonably well made,
although maybe a little flimsy (light weight, if you prefer).

The same company makes external RAID enclosures, but I have no experience
with them.

Return address scrambled. Replace nkbob with bobkn.
