what is the 1-800 number that you call to activate
windows? theres a number you call thats like an answering
machine and you type in your code. Does anyone know? I
still keep getting that message.

Hi fubugirl:

Just click on activate by phone. A phone number (should be an 800
number in the US or Canada) will be shown in the dialog wizard. Call
that number and you'll be prompted to key in your code (product key).
From there on, just follow directions.

Have you tried to activate using the internet?
