I have a laptop which came with a pre-installed windows xp (home
edition) software in drive c:\.
Yesterday I installed windows 2000 server in drive d:\.
However I did not make a copy of NTLDR and Ntdetect.com from
c:\windows\I386 folder, before installing 2000. And those two files
got overwritten by the 2000 installation. These two files are needed
in c:\ in order to boot my laptop in XP.

I would really appreciate if somebody could send me those two files at
my email id (e-mail address removed)

Thanks in advance,

Cris

Hi,

So why not boot Win2000 and simply copy them from that folder (of course, it
won't be C:\, it'll be some other drive letter) to the root of the boot
partition and overwrite the WIn2K versions?

hi rick,

I think I was not clear enough in my original post. The files have
been overwritten during the win2000 installation so there is no copy
of them which came with the original XP installation.

I could not find the files at the site. Could somebody please send me
those at (e-mail address removed)

Cris

Hi Kelly,

I made a copy of them and added them to the boot disk (c:\) and booted
the system in XP. Now I am getting this error: "Internal setup data
structures are corrupted (phase 0)."

I was going through old threads and somebody suggested that
c:\windows\$winnt$.inf might have been corrupted but I checked that
file and the file has not been modified since the original
installation/setup of XP.

Any help would be really appreciated???

Cris
