Neat caller id freeware program

Just discovered a nice, tidy little freeware caller id program at
http://www.ivrsoft.com/call-alert.htm.
It works! Unlike many I've evaluated.

I installed this program and it doesn't work.
Also, the Help file is missing.
My modem is HSF2002 DataFax (Conexant)
WIN XP SP1 (Home)

I have the same (internal) modem but I couldn't get it to work with caller
id programs.
Although IVRSoft claims any data-fax modem will work, all of the caller id
programs I've tried out required a caller-id capable modem. The following
link lists such modems.

I purchased a Creative Labs caller id supported modem about a year ago - it
was the least expensive of the lot (about $46 at the time) and has worked
very well.

There you can provide information about your modem, etc. and presumably get
help. I presume they want feedback since the program is a beta.

There was no help file in my download either and I acquainted myself with
the program through trial and error. ( I have encountered many freeware
programs with virtually no help. I sometimes think some developers believe
their software is so transparent that little help is required.)

Finally two other links might help you with the ins and outs of caller id
software. The first is based in the UK but much of it is widely applicable -
though it may be more than you ever wanted to know about caller id programs.
