When I insert a <br> using the Insert menu in FP2003, an "&nbsp" is added along with it. This is unwanted. It did not occur in FP2002 leading me to believe I have missed a setting somewhere. How can I make this stop

TIA

Any reason why you don't use Shift+Enter
to add a single line break instead of the Insert menu??

Shift + Enter takes all of the fun out of it. ;->

Other than not realizing I could, No. Good call, thanks

However, the original question still remains. I'm also finding that my code has a lot of the "&nbsp"s insinuated into it. Is there a setting to control this, or is it a function of the Browser selection grid in the Authoring properties

Thank
JeffreyB

The &nbsp is added when using any feature
of the insert menu. It acts as a "place holder"
so you can click in an area with the mouse cursor
to begin editing.

Example, insert a cell, go to html view and remove
the &nbsp. Switch back to Edit mode and try to
click inside the cell.

Are all those spaces REALLY there or only insinuated??? {;> )
Do not use the space bar to position anything!
Why don't you give us the URL and we can help you better!

Thanks for the info Steve, and also to E.T. Culling. This makes a little more sense. The site I'm working on is not live yet; it will be this week. It's mostly content; in fact it's a professors web site at college. I'm reworking it to reflect the courses he teaches this quarter and including all the needed information for each. No big graphic design here. The original site was created with Notepad; I'm modifying it with Frontpage. I started with FP2000 and only this weekend installed FP2003, hence the query. I hadn't had this issue before now.

Thanks to you both for the assist, I've got tons of other questions but they can wait for later.

Regard
Jef

I believe it's actually a function of the fact that there have been
varying bugs/issues in browsers with empty <p> and (if I can say this)
empty <br> tags. I noticed somewhere about generation 2.5 of most
authoring tools that they started to do this sort of thing.
