NAV2005 or PCillin ???

I have WinXP Pro (SP1) and have the choice of using either Norton AntiVirus
2005 or PCillin 2002 (but will upgrade to latest files if i install). My
question is, which is the best to install as WinXP will not allow both to be
installed.

I did use NAV2005 on another PC and found that most of the time it would say
it has found a virus/trojan etc but was unable to remove it and i couldn't
see what the point was if it couldn't get rid of it !

Anyway, is PCillin better against NAV2005 ??

Cheers

I prefer PcCillin .. slightly less bloated. of course, Trend are busy
fixing that (it now does Email scanning, Spam scanning, Firewall, and
fifteen other things I didn't really need in a virus scanner). Note
that the latest version is PcCillin 2005 (aka V12), and if you have a
valid PcCillin 2002 license you can probably get a half-price upgrade.

Yeah, it's a valid licence as it came free with my motherboard. Is 2002
enough, or is there a distinct advantage in going for PCillin 2005 ??

If you have to buy a license (which you will after 12 months or so) then
you can probably only buy PCC2005 now. If your license for PcCillin 2002
will work, that is equally fine (but lacks some of the email virus/spam
scanning and suchlike additions).

I've never used NAV but PC Cillin 2oo2 is a rubbish piece of software,
which is probably why they give it away free to anybody that will take
it! I ran it for 10 months, and at best it only seemed to have new
virus definitions once a day. Sometimes, it seemed to be 6 or 7 days
between updates, and I'd check manually every day. I stopped using it
couple months ago, and a trial version of Kaspersky found 10 different
viruses on my system. Also Kaspersky seemed much much better - new
virus definitions every 3 hrs.

End result being that I felt I was being protected using Kaspersky but
very vulnerable when running PC Cillin 2oo2. Also the shields up
website, when used to test the firewall, suggested that there was no
difference at all with the firewall switched on or off! I tested my
machine using ZoneAlarm, the Windows firewall, no protection at all,
and the PC Cillin 2oo2 firewall. Zone Alarm was best, then the Windows
firewall which wasn't as good, and PC Cillin had exactly the same
results as an unprotected machine! Unforgivable.

Also. ZoneAlarm Pro reported on quite a few occasions, people scanning
my pc to see if it was running PC Cillin 2oo2.... hmmmm, all in all
the firewall is rubbish, and I just lost all confidence in the rest of
the software.
