Native Mode Problem

I have a DC that is in Native mode that needs to be
disconnected from the GC. I know that there is a registry
edit that will allow the DC to ignore the GC. Does anyone
happen to know what the key is and where that key might go?

Can you explain why you would want to "disconnect" the DC from the GC?
Generally GCs are a good thing.

If you really want to you can disable the GC on the fly using the Sites and
Service Snap-in:

I have 5 DC at different locations each with a different
domain name. Presently they have no active connection and
are unable to replicate unless brought back and attached
to the root. (this is a school district.) Over the summer
I brought each DC back to the main location for
replication, service packs, and some necessary
AD work. When this DC was returned back to its location
users are unable to login. Apparently when its switched to
native mode it needs to see the GC.

I have switched this DC to a GC in sites and services and
am still having the same issues. When its attached to the
forest you can login. When you detach it no one can login.

Do you have any other ideas?
