Nascar 2003 problem with 9800pro 256mb

I just replaced a 9800pro with a 9800pro 256mb and now the image quality is the $hits with nascar 2003. What gives with that?

The gages from the interior of the car look perfect but any camera view outside the car gives very poor line definition and image quality.

Edit the rend_dxg.ini file in your nascar 2003 directory. Change the
TextureSetSize=xxxxxxxxx to the size you want. The higher the number the
better the detail and the slower the frame rate during a crash or pitting.
In my case I use 67077888. Your milage may vary.

I don't know if that is the answer or not... the game worked perfectly on my
9800pro 128mb version.

I even reinstalled the drivers and the game...

I just purchased an ATI 9800 128 mb non-pro from Circuit City for $199. I
figure I'll be able to overclock close to the Pro version. I am selling my
GF 4200 128mb to a friend for $75. I was wondering what kind of frame rates
you are getting, and at what settings you play N2003? I play at 1024x768 16
bit color, full field drawn and I get 36 fps at the start of the game and
then higher as the field spreads out. Any performance information or known
issues would be appreciated. I won't be opening the card until Christmas,
part of the deal with the wife. Thanks.

Sondog, if you run at 9800pro speeds you should be able to get about 50fps
at 1280x1024 32bit with 4xAA and 16AF... depending on the rest of you rig.
That is what my system does. I run an AthlonXP @ 2500mhz with 512mb memory.

Maybe you can swap video cards and wrap the old 4200 up in the box... she'll
never know :) You can't wait can you?

Thanks for the info. Picture looks great. I should get similar
performance.

xp 2400+
512 mb

He is running at XP @ 2500mhz, an xp2400+ runs at 2000mhz so keep that in
mind as NR2003 is very processor hungry.
One other BIG issue in the shot, the mirror is not on. That is the biggest
FPS killer of all, but something hard to go without especially in online
league racing. The gauges and lower right info panel are also turned off,
both of which most people have on as well.

LBJGH - What ingame settings are you using?

Ya that pretty good.
I run at 9800 pro as well, at 1600*1200. Don't see much drop at higher res
either.
