I am trying to import a contacts spreadsheet from Excel to Outlook but I keep
getting the same error message... Use Microsoft Excel to name the range of
data you want to import. How do I name ranges??

Hi,

This procedure explains how to create and use Named range and use name range
in the Data validation list.

1. Do one of the following:
• Enter few Values under each row in a column
a) Select all the values.
b) On the Insert menu, point to Name, and then click Define
The Define dialog is displayed.
c) In the Name in Workbook text box, enter a name for the range of
cells you
have just selected in the sheet.
d) Then click the Add button.
The name is added in the Name in Workbook list with the cell range
specified as Absolute reference in the Refer To text box. You can
also
edit directly in the Refer to text box.
e) Click OK.
Now you can directly use the named range in any of the sheets in
the work
box by prefixing with “=†sign.
• On the Date menu, click Validation.
The Data Validation dialog appears.
a) Click the Settings Tab.
b) Under Validation criteria, click the arrow in the Allow list.
c) Choose List.
Select the Ignore blank and in-cell dropdown check boxes.
d) In the Source text box, enter the Named range or type values by
sepearting
with comma delimiter.
Note: you must enter “=†symbol before enter named range or
values. You
cannot have more than one named range in the Source Text Value. In
addition, you can select the symbol next to the Source text box,
to directly
select the list of cells in from your sheet.
e) Click OK.
