I have been trying to make an image of C: using Image for Windows.
After a whole lot of spinning I get a read error. The options are
"Quit" or "Ignore". I suppose it's predictable the "Ignore" results in
an image that has errors. One of the suggestion on the Terrabyte
support page is to run a fitness test. The drive is a Samsung, 80Gig
2.5", but I can't find a Samsung test program. I used a Hitachi
fitness test, it worked. First the Quick test showed no problem, but
then the Advanced test ended with an error code and to contact the
manufacturer. The drive is 1 month out of warranty, well it would be
wouldn't it? And in normal use I don't have any problems running XP
SP2 and a load of aps. So now I'm wondering should I pay $99 for
Spinrite? Or a few more $$ for a new drive? Or do nothing?
Any suggestions much appreciated.
