myCompute/Explorer hanging system

recently installed a USB external hard drive, and a Konica printer then
after opening explorer via right mouse click on start button and choosing
explore and opening the file mange for win2k pro os, then I play around and
do various things and eventually the systems freezes and my
computer/explorer seems to be the culprit, search MS KB came up empty, clue
much appreciated, TIA

Hello Frank,

Thanks fo rthe Posting. Look for any mapped network drives configured in
the system. Sometimes it freezes the Windows Explorer when you try to open.

Here to go

Delete Mapped drives

Unplug / Delete USB Dirve (just to check whether you open explorer fast or
not)

thanks, did as u suggested had one mapped drive, removed it, did not fix the
problem, problem is getting worse, everything fine after startup, able to
get into explorer ie my computer, after about 5-10 minutes then the problem
resurfaces, now just clicking on the start button freezes the system, when
ctrl-alt-del to shut down machine and select restart, I get explorer.exe not
responding, and have to click the end now button, any other suggestions
would be appreciated
