i would like to have assistance on fixing my XP. The problem started when i
installed on dos game and clicked on it to open. I got a blue screen
indicating that " the window is dumping Physical memory". I pressed RESET.
and now when XP boots , i get a black screen and the computer remains dead. i
then tried to boot from the XP installation CD. I get a screen showing " the
computer is checking your hardware cofiguration" then the screen goes black
and remains like that. i would like to fix this problem as soon as possible.
please give me some technical assistance to debug the problem myself. But
however i'm successfully able to boot windows 98 without any problem.

my email is : (e-mail address removed)

Thank you. Awaiting your reply.

Hi

Did you note down the Stop Code from the BSOD? If so, could you please post
it here?

Have you tried to boot into save mode? Did you try to run CHKDSK /f from a
command prompt? Have you tried to run the last good known configuration?
Besides installing a DOS pgm on an XP PC, did you install any new hardware?

Good Luck

Wish I could help with your boot problem. However I can offer this for the
future: You say you have Win98? I have a few DOS programs from years ago
that I like very much and continue to use. I have found they run perfectly
in the Win98 I have on my dual boot system. It seems that, since Win 2000,
DOS is no longer the underlying source for operations while for Win98, it is.
XP has a "virtual DOS" contraption but it would not run my old DOS favorites
without alot of fiddling under the hood.

Good luck
