My webcam doesn't work with MSN!!!

Hello, I recently got a Logitec Quickcam which works fine and is downloaded
correctly, but it won't work with MSN and everytime I attempt to use it, my
computer crashes or the internet completely stops working, regardless of the
fact that it's still connected. I phoned a help line and they told me that
both programs are most likely in conflict with eachother, but I have no idea
how to change these settings, or if there's anything else I can do to make it
work.
If anybody has any help I would be extremely appreciative,

MSN is a custom version of Internet Explorer. Will the web cam work with
Internet Explorer?
(You don't really need to use MSN Explorer with MSN, unless there is some
"gotta have" service unique to the MSN version.)
Is there a USB based conflict between the QuickCam and possibly a modem?

The USB is fine, the conflict is between MSN Messenger and the Quickcam. It
works with Internet Explorer unless I sign into MSN Messenger and attempt to
use it, then neither works, not even the camera.
