I had a computer with a 1200 athlon and an ECS K7S5A motherboard. The
processor burned out, but my DDR chips and the motherboard work fine.

I am buying a new processor soon. Will the new cpu be at risk because
of the previous system crash? My power supply is also new.

Do sys crashes like this make it more common to happen again???

This doesn't happen unless something goes seriously wrong.

Why did it burn out? Did your CPU fan fail? Power supply fail?
Heatsink fall off the CPU?

It's hard to imagine a CPU failing without another part failing first.

....and no, it doesn't happen often at all!
