I am trying to receive information from a field that has alphanumeric data.
When I use the "sumif" formula my response comes back "0". I have tried to
same the alphanumber data as text but that does not help. I am using Excel
2002.

Better Excel answers are likely to be obtained by using a newsgroup devoted
to Excel. This one is devoted to Microsoft Access database software.
