My start menu appears to have run out of space

My start menu appears to have run out of space, and those arrows which
bring the remaining menu items into view don't show up.

It covers the whole of the screen, and no matter what I do more stuff
does not show up. Is there a limit to the number of items in the
Programs menu on Win2000??

PS. Is there a way to sort the Program Menu items alphabetically? I
wonder why Microsoft does not make it the default.

Right-Click on your Program Menu, and choose 'Sort By Name'
I guess it doesn't do it by default as some people like to always have
programs in the same order, and would get annoyed if it kept re-ordering
things.

Can you increase the resolution of your screen?

You could look at the ..StartMenu/Programs directory on your disk, and
consider grouping your programs into sub-directories:
eg:
Graphics Programs
Games
Programming Tools
MP3 Applications
etc.

Or maybe un-installing a few programs (do you really need a 'start menu the
size of a whole screen' worth of programs??

There is no 'Sort By Name' option when I right click on the Program
Menu only Open | Explore | Open All Users | Explore all users. Are
sure you have described the process properly?

What version of Windows 2000 are you using

I described it properly, but maybe not carefully enough ;-)

Start, Programs, then right click on any program in the programs list.

I am using Win2000 Professional (5.00.2195, SP4)

Any of the other suggestions any help?

I've got it done now. It is surprising how you can use a system at a
fairly involved level for years and not notice such minor faiclities
