My Spaces profile Problem

I have Win Live Messenger 8.5 and in my spaces profile, my full name (first
and last) is showing.

But when I try to edit it in my profile by deleting my last name, and
clicking "save," the page returns with a message in red saying: "Last name
is required"

But there is also the message:

"Allow everyone to see my last name so people on Windows Live can connect
with me"
There is a blank square that you can click to have this happen.
I have left this empty.

There is also this message beside the last name win:

"If you don't share your last name with everyone, it will be shared only
with people who can see your contact info."

I only want my full profile to be showing to my conrtacts. Is there some way
I can do this please?

Wow, this is the My Spaces (sic) newsgroup?
 
Ok, by that answer, it looks like I should be in the "my spaces news group."

How ever it is Messenger!

Any way, I will see if I can find that group
