My screen turns black

My monitor only stays up for 2 minutes max then goes black and returns after
3 seconds. Also my screen resolution goes to 8 bit when I change programs .
What could be wrong?

part of Office Professional.

I'd suggest reposting your question to a newsgroup related to hardware for
whatever version of Windows you're running, or contacting the manufacturer
of the monitor. Do you have the latest drivers installed?
