Hi Martin

I just wanted to give you the steps to make sure both your host computer is
setup properly and that your configureing the computer your trying to connect
remotly from properly.

Make sure you are logged in as an Administrator
1. Click Start, right-click My Computer, and then click Properties
2. In System Properties, select the Remote tab
3. Select the Allow users to connect remotely to this computer check box

To enable remote access on your Windows XP computer, you need to be a member
of the Administrators group or of the Remote Desktop Users group. To add
users to the Remote Desktop Users group:

1. Make sure you are logged in as an Administrator
2. Click Start, right-click My Computer, and then click Properties
3. In System Properties, select the Remote tab
4. Click the Select Remote Users button
5. In the Remote Desktop Users dialog box click Add
6. In the Select Users dialog box, type the user name(s) you want to add, or
click the Advanced button, and click Find Now. This will find all the users
on your system. You can also change the locations to find users on the
network.
After adding the user(s), click OK

Establishing a Remote Desktop Session

After installing the appropriate client software on the client computer, you
can connect to the remote computer:

1. Click Start > All Programs > Accessories > Communications > Remote
Desktop Connection
2. In the Remote Desktop Connection dialog box, in the Computer box, type
the name or IP address of a computer running Windows XP Professional for
which you have Remote Desktop permissions
3. Click Connect
4. In the Log On to Windows dialog box, type your user name, password, and
domain (if required), and then click OK

when you establish a connection to the host computer from the remote
location, the host computer will go to the log in screen, this is to prevent
anybody at that location from seeing what work is being done on the system or
what files are being accessed.
GoodLuck

Trade the restart in for an error message instead and see if this
message will give you any further information.

1. Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
2. On the Advanced tab, click Settings under Startup and Recovery.
3. Clear the Automatically restart check box under System failure, and
then click OK. The error message should remain on the screen so that
you can record the error information.
