My PC constantly reboots when FSB is increased......why????

My OS is Win XP Pro SP2, 500mb ddr 400, Geforce 440.

I've got an Athlon XP 2600+ running on a Jetway V4mdm. The board is
currently running with the FSB set to 133Mhz(default) because whenever
I change it to 166 Mhz the PC constantly reboots, usually when I try
to run an intensive program, game , video software etc. The CPU is
rated to run at 166 so and is the Motherboard so why don't they?
The CPU temperature after a (166) reboot is 55c and the system temp
33c so it's not an over heating problem.
Any help or ideas much appreciated.

I'm sure the FSB affects memory and add-in card performance more than it
does CPU performance. What memory have you got in there? If your
change affected the CPU then I would have thought you would see it rated
differently to its standard rating of XP 2600+, both at boot up and when
using software, such as everest (or dxdiag which displays cpu speed).
Do you see any difference?

lesser figure than when booting at FSB 166. I can't remember the
exact figure, I shall check it later. When the FSB is set to 166 the
rating for the CPU in the post shows 2600.
I'm not if this what you meant.

pushed? My PSU is 400w so that is OK. I'm still scratching my head.

You need PC333. If you memory works at 266, but not at 333 it is either
faulty ddr400 or it is not as described. What is make of memory?

Try setting the dram clock at 133MHz and reboot. If need be try 100MHz
setting and reboot again.
