my new satellite tosh will not work with excel

My computer will not open an excel attachment.
it asks me to load a cd with "microsoftoffice 2000SR-1
premium" then looks for it and cant find it/
How do I open such attachments PLEASE

maybe asking the obvious: have you Excel already installed on your PC?.
