dale

here's my situation.
i have two machines, both running xp, both with the same
for users and passwords, pier to pier.
when i look in 'my network places', one can see all the
shared folders on both machines. the other however can
only see itself.
if i 'view workgroup computers, one can only see itself,
the other tells me me to speak to my network
administrator, which i am.
they can both ping each other.
has anyone any ideas????

I had a similiar problem with two XP machines until I
set "computer browser" to automatic and started the
service on both computers.

To enable the service click start->run->then
type "services.msc" Scroll down to "computer browser"
and make sure it is set to automatic and started.

I believe the Network Location Awareness service is also
required.

Hope that helps.
