my messenger sounds are gone

My sounds in messenger are gone. When I test the sounds in messenger they work, but if somebody goes online I only see the blue thing on the right but I dont hear anything. Same goes for new emails in messenger.All the other sounds from my computer work very well Can somebody help me????????

had the same problem you are having--how did I solve it?
copied all the sounds I wanted to use to the "C\Windows\Media " folder, and now they all work.
In the case of "MSN Messenger I had to copy the sounds I wanted to use to the MSN Messenger folder for them to work properly.
